Our Family - Genevieve

Genevieve is Newt's daughter. She and her boyfriend Ronnie is working in Greenville, NC at a local hospital, managing the hospital's temporary Nurse employment program. She has recently (2007) graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Theatre in Boone, North Carolina. She transferred in the Spring 2004 semester from Casper College in Casper, Wyoming. She appeared in the Universities' production of the Beggar's Opera in April, 2004.

The first summer in Casper she attended the college's production of Carousel, the Broadway musical. We met and talked with John Raitt, the original broadway star of Carousel (and father of singer Bonny Raitt). He gave a clinic and attended the opening night!

Her first Fall, she was in her first college musical, Cole Porters' Anything Goes. Newt and Donna attended the play. It was very professional and enjoyable. An off-broadway (New York) professional director, Kurt Stamm was guest director. She later played in "Merry Wives of Windsor", as one of the wives . Click here to see her in action in a You Tube video. She also played in the Casper College production of "The Secret Garden" summer 2002. Great play, great performance! She's playing in the great play "Once Upon A Mattress" in October 2002. She plays the "evil" Queen Agravain (photo from her play). Here's a great pensive profile shot from the same play. A poor quality movie clip is available of her singing a solo. Here she is with her dancing instructor, Jodie. Later in 2003, she had a good role in "Blood Wedding" by Federico Garcia Lorca. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see this one. I hear she did great though. Her last show (July 2003) was "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum", by Stephen Sondheim. She played the role of the dominneering wife, Domina. Here's a great shot of her in full costume. Here's a bit of her in a movie.

She's had the chance to do a one-on-one Actor's workshop with Anthony Zerbe, star of countless TV and Movie shows. This was a week's workshop in September 2002.

Genevieve enjoys theatre, music (voice), reading, writing poetry, gourmet cooking (and eating!) and several other things that her parents probably don't know about! She's even tried her hand at fantasy art (see her web page.) Here she shows off her Fantasy web banners and other photos. She's pretty artistic!

Here's an mp3 recording of Genny's high school talent show contest, singing, Le Jazz Hot from the musical movie, Victor Victoria. (I'm sure she would protest me placing it on the web.)

Here's a fairly extensive slideshow of Genny's life to date (2006).
