This picture of Reggie and myself was taken in November 2001 while we were visiting my old home town Pacific Grove, California. I was born in El Dorado, Arkansas in August of 19%##!, first son of Emon and Madeline Perdue. El Dorado is an oil town and the home of the Perdues. We are probably related to the Perdue's of chicken fame, but certainly far enough in time to prevent me from asking to borrow money! My brother, John, was born 8 years later to deprive me of all the perks of being an only child. The world was never quite the same again once John graced the world with his birth. I went to Harborside Elementary, Hilltop Elementary, Castle Park Junior High, Hilltop Junior High and finally Hilltop High School in Chula Vista, California and graduated in 1964. I was the President of the Hilltop Lancer Band (here's a photo of me being "dressed" for a parade), played Saxophone, and remember it as one of the highlights of my life. Dr. William Padelford was our band director and he was an inspiration for many of us. His dedication to striving for our best and his respect of his students will always be remembered. I was selected to be a member of the first class of the new University in La Jolla, University of California, San Diego, UCSD Class of 1968. I majored in Biology with the intent of becoming a medical doctor, but dropped out of the pre-med program once I took Organic Chemistry from Dr. Teddy G. Traylor. Prior to my graduation from UCSD, I learned how to program computers (IBM 1401, CDC 3600) and worked for the Registrar's office, helping to bring them into the computer age from punched cards. From there, my career direction was set in the computer profession. After graduation I got a FORTRAN programming job from Computer Applications, then with the US Navy Fleet Numerical Weather Center in Monterey,California. After installing a large Supercomputer there (CDC 203) I left to work for Technology Development Corp. in the heart of Silicon Valley. I assisted them in tearing out the Illiac Supercomputer and replacing it with a Cray XMP at NASA Ames Research Center. NASA hired me to work in their newly established Numerical Aerodynamic Simulation center. I assisted them in purchasing the Cray 2 supercomputer. I then decided I'd had enough of government employment and joined with two other friends to start a company named "Ultra Corporation" later to be called "Ultra Network Technologies". We made the world's first gigabit per second fiber optic network and processors for the supercomputer marketplace, including many of the world's largest companies, intelligence agencies, and governments. We grew to 140 people prior to the demise 7 years later, a story for another time. That was my chance for fortune but I let it pass me by. Here's an article in a NASA technology magazine that features my participation in Ultra. Here's a paper I found on a NASA web page from 1993 that I wrote on Large Mass Storage farms. In 1992, after my Mom's untimely death, I moved to Nederland, Colorado and started my own company again, Rocky Mountain Digital Peeks, doing multimedia CDROMS (see the Work section). (Here's an old time press release of one of my products about Wildflowers.) This time, I limited it to the number of persons I could handle (myself and my wife, and even that was a lot!). That period is now over and I'm on the road, helping others, as a multimedia and web consultant, creating multimedia web pages from my fully equipped mobile office! I enjoy classical music (Mozart, Bach, Bruckner, Shostakovich, Beethoven, Handel, Brahms, Rachmaninoff, Kibbe, etc.), jazz, broadway musicals(see my log) and even 40's standards(especially the big band stuff and swing). I love to watch good movies, esp. old black and white movies. My favorite star is Jimmy Stewart! Check out the celebrities that I've met (including Jimmy Stewart). I enjoy ballroom dancing and swing, but don't get much chance to practice it these days. I have two children that are now grown (Damon and Genny ), a granddaughter Chloe, (see my Family pages) and a Golden Retriever dog, Reggie. Travel has always been a priority with me. I enjoy hiking and photography and thus the full-time RVing gives me the opportunity to see the USA and enjoy it at a slow pace. Our Segway gives us a lot of fun traveling around RV parks and towns.
Gosh, I didn't think I'd ever do this again. Chloe makes it easy for me to do though.
