Menifee, CA | 01/09/08-01/18/08 | Wilderness Lakes (NACO/Thousand Trails) | Very large RV Park that was almost full. Lots of amenities, plus an added bonus of Dairy Cows being next door that contributed often to intense smells. Lots of waterfowl in the canals and nearby swamps. Once in the sticks, new housing developments are springing up like weeds around them. Level sites, 24-hour staffing, pools, trees and many non-treed sites available. Visited Donna's aunt from here. I attended a great John Jorgenson (Gypsy Jazz) concert in Vista (image) with my brother from here (about a 45 min drive).
above Banning, CA | 01/18/08-02/10/08 | Silent Valley RV Resort | Hanging out in one of our favorite places again. Had over 8" of rain during our stay this time. It was pretty cold, but generally good weather in-between.
Lytle Creek, CA | 02/10/08-02/24/08 | Mountain Lakes RV Resort | We were here on Presidents Day and the park was 95% full on that three day weekend. I was able to "classical jam" with friends one Sunday (Michael Kibbe and John Lasser) for some fun. Donna visited her sister from here. Weather was good this time.
Pomona, CA | 02/24/08-02/29/08 | Fairplex / FMCA conference | Attended the 2008 FMCA International Conference. Over 3,000 RVs parked at the Fairplex. Lots of entertainment, seminars and new RV products to see. Interesting, but the boondocking with 3000 other people was a bit stressful for us.
above Banning, CA | 02/29/08-03/20/08 | Silent Valley RV Resort | One good snow (4") on Mar 15th. Weather nice otherwise. Visited our relatives a couple times.
Lytle Creek, CA | 03/20/08-03/28/08 | Mountain Lakes RV Resort | Visiting relatives. Another "classical jam" with Michael Kibbe and John Lasser. Good weather. Crowded park due to Easter vacations. See my Virtual Photo Tour of the Sheep Canyon 4WD Trail that I took from Lytle Creek, CA using either Google Maps or Google Earth (best, but requires the Google Earth Software).
Furnace Creek, CA | 03/28/08-04/01/08 | Furnace Creek Campground Death Valley | A short visit to Death Valley National Park for Photo opportunities. Visited the Racetrack Playa (mystery rocks) and took the Titus Canyon 4WD trail (awesome).
Kanab, UT | 04/01/08-05/01/08 | Crazyhorse RV Campark | Hanging out in red rock country. Working on a large job so photography is spotty this visit. Nice weather (a bit windy however) most of the time, cold in the evening, nice during the day. Kanab is a nice small town near beautiful natural wonders. This RV park is a bit run down but the price is right.
Mt. Pleasant, UT | 05/01/08-05/08/08 | Camperworld | Nice Coast-to-Coast camp snuggled up against the mountains in the Manti-La Sal National forest. We stayed here a bit early in the season when snow was in the mountains down to the foothills. Quiet (we were one of a few in the park). My Satellite internet didn't work for some reason and they had a wi-fi from the clubhouse that I used.
Rexburg, ID | 05/08/08-05/15/08 | Rainbow Lake RV Campground | Unattended campground off highway 20 next to a small man-made lake, poorly maintained, but adequate. We were waiting for the snow to melt at RedRock RV park (which took a week to happen.) Used Passport America.
Island Park, ID | 05/15/08-10/01/08 | RedRock RV Park | Our summer home. This year the snow lasted til May 15 and delayed us getting in. The wildflowers were outstanding as a result. I spent a lot of the summer photographing them all. The summer was very mild and the Fall was the first without sub-freezing temps. In all a great summer.
Rexburg, ID | 10/01/08-10/02/08 | Rainbow Lake RV Campground | Spent one night so Donna could see her eye doctor. Passport America $13.
Wells, NV | 10/02/08-10/04/08 | Mountain Shadows RV Park | Small, medium quality Passport America park in Wells, NV. Wells is pretty run down, but has some nice features, like the Ruby Mtns. It was too rainy and cloudy for photography this year.
Reno, NV | 10/04/08-10/06/08 | Friends Home | Stayed with Bill and Carol (in their large front yard). They live on the edge of Swan Lake, a seasonal lake and bird refuge. Enjoyed every minute of the stay.
Isleton,CA | 10/06/08-10/20/08 | Delta Shores Resort & Marina | Nice RV park under the levees of the Mokelumne River in the Sacramento Delta. Nice place, with great sunrises over the River. Good 50AMP power.
Isleton,CA | 10/20/08-11/3/08 | Lighthouse Resort & Marina | ROD RV park under the levees of the Mokelumne River in the Sacramento Delta. 30 AMP power is POOR, but otherwise OK park. $2 per night for 30 AMP. $2 per stay for dog.
Bass Lake ,CA | 11/3/08-11/10/08 | Bass Lake Resort | ROD RV Park south of Yosemite (45 mi). Visited with Cuz and Sis Teri. Rain and cool weather. One day in Yosemite. 50 Amps. Crowded lots of trees.
Lake Elizabeth ,CA | 11/10/08-11/11/08 | Elizabeth Lake Golf & Ranch | Coast to Coast club. Open area, few trees, gravel sites. Clean. Golf course. 50 AMPs.
Menifee, CA | 11/11/08-11/24/08 | Wilderness Lakes (NACO/Thousand Trails) | Very large RV Park and 80% full. 30 AMPs but strong. Lots of amenities, plus an added bonus of Dairy Cows and chicken farm being next door that contributed often to intense smells. Ducks and Geese wander around the place freely. Not bad though. Visiting Family and Friends. Saw Naomi, RB, and Hanna and Michael, plus my brother John and Linda with their new RV.
Banning, CA | 11/24/08-12/22/08 | Silent Valley RV Resort | Staying in our southern California club for almost 30 days. Heavy rain and snow came near the end of our stay, including a 78 hour power outage during a 8" snow storm. We left a couple days early to get out of the way of another impending storm. Stayed in section B alone this time. Sold our SV membership.
Ramona, CA | 12/22/08-01/06/09 | Ramona Canyon RV Resort | Another Western Horizon club, we spend Christmas here to be close to my brother John and his family for the holidays. Rain and Sun while here. |
