Cody, WY | 8/01/2001-9/20/2001 | Parkway Trailer & RV Park, Yellowstone Avenue | just a trailer park for working folk, but was great for a base for visiting the area near Yellowstone. Had a phone for a month here while I worked for the Buffalo Bill Historical Society.
Casper, WY | 10/15/01-10/17/01 | KOA | Typical KOA, width was small, not in a great place, just out of town near the train, the freeway, etc. A bit noisy. Our daughter goes to school at Casper College nearby, so it was convenient.
Kanarraville,UT | 10/17-10/22 | Red Ledge RV Park, UT | Great little place, park on the grass, near west entrance to Zion Nat'l Park. only a few miles south of Cedar City. Passport America.
Banning, CA | 10/27/01-11/12/01 | Silent Valley RV Club | We joined this club it was so good. Nestled in the trees in the mountains above Banning, CA and below Idyllwild, CA, lots of amenities and quiet. Large park, above the smog of LA.
Valley of Fire,NV | 11/12/01-11/14/01 | Valley of Fire State Park | Great place. no hooks up, but each campsite (we stayed in B20) is nestled among the petrified dunes there! Wanna go again. Really quiet, and a most photogenic place. I'll try to place a couple photos on-line.
Lincoln, NV | 11/14/01-11/15/01 | Cathedral Gorge State Park | Very nice little state park, we were only one of 2 staying there (site 12). Really neat "slot caves" made by erosion. Great place to stay if you are travelling up Nevada's US highway 93.
Ash Springs | 11/14/01 | Ash Springs Hot Springs run by the BLM | Great little stop (not a campg) to enjoy the delightful hot springs.
Majors Place,NV near Ely |
11/15/01-11/18/01 | Major's Place Bar and RV Place | A clean place to park with hookups behind a bar and grill about 26 miles from Great Basin National Park. We visited the Lehman caves at the park. Beautiful area, quiet, desolate. Very few people there this time of year. Highway 50 along here is called the "Loneliest Road in America".
Salt Lake City, UT | 11/18/01-11/21/01 | VIP KOA | Largest RV park in Salt Lake city. Actually had a site with a phone for $3 extra per day. We were here while our RV had it's 2-way Satellite Antenna installed. Nice place, a bit pricey $38 total.
Lake Yuba, UT | 11/21/01-11/22/01 | Oasis Campground, Yuba Lake State park | Totally empty state park next to Yuba Lake, about 5 miles off Interstate 15. Only stayed overnight, but looked like a nice place to stay. We stayed free. It was closed with no place to pay.
Mojave,CA | 11/22/01-11/23/01 | Sierra Trails RV Park | Good Neighbor Park ($11). Only overnight. Full hookups in rural area, quiet, mostly long-term residents.
Morgan Hill,CA | 11/22/01-11/25/01 | Maple Leaf RV Park | Pricey, mainly longer term residents, few trees, clean, concrete pads. Full hook-ups, large place. $38/night! Visited Donna's daughter and my son, Damon.
Monterey,CA | 11/25/01-11/28/01 | Cypress Tree Inn Motel | about 5 RV Spaces in their parking lot along a fence in downtown (between Seaside and Monterey). Not as bad as it sounds. The least expensive place $23 in town (until an event occurs, then $40). Spa included! Visited Doug Wenger and Jerry/Terry McConnell friends of Newt's for many years when he worked in Monterey.
King City,CA | 11/28/01-12/04/01 | San Lorenzo Regional Park | Great campground in an agricultural area in the center of California. Right next to the Salinas River. Lots of room for the dog to run between high bamboo shoots growing along the river. Stayed in #98 on the grass. Agricultural museum on the grounds.
Kingsburg, CA | 12/04/01-12/18/01 | Royal Oak Resort | Coast-to-coast RV Park on the Kings River. Sites under trees next to river. Very cold and damp while visiting. Older camp with few guests this time of year.
Banning, CA | 12/18/01-1/17/02 | Silent Valley RV Club | We are club members here. Under leafless trees in the mountains above Los Angeles and Palm Springs. Very few people here. So nice! |
